"Maple Syrup Season Begins" a PRINT by Deborah Gregg

A dense, icy fog shrouds the dark maple grove as everyone begins the morning's work. The sap is running! Winter is letting go, but insists on a few snowflakes drifting down for effect. And even though it's gloomy in the woods, the lanterns are lit, the cocoa is on the wagon, and everyone is in good spirits -- even old Nan, who takes her job (keeping an eye on the little one) so seriously. Just the crows are a bit put out by the early morning disturbance. Ahhh, spring. You can almost taste the warm maple syrup already! ♡

“A sap-run is the sweet good-bye of winter. It is the fruit of the equal marriage of the sun and frost.” ~John Burroughs, Signs and Seasons, 1886
